[334/366] My iron body is invincible!

I've played a video game!

This is such a big deal. I never play video games. I cannot play video games (except on the NES our family had, and even then my brother was better than everything but Tetris).

And yes okay I've only played Street Fighter, something so old and me-friendly I did the arcade game, but this was my first time using a PlayStation controler so that was enough to make this exciting and complicated!

I think the last time I got talked into playing a video game it was Super Smash Bros Melee and I couldn't even choose a character, which the boyfriend who nagged me to play found baffling and hilarious. He wouldn't help me (seems a weird way to treat a blind person but I was still growing out of my raised-to-act-normal phase so I don't blame him as much as myself). It was so stressful and I hated it. I was 20 years old then. I've got better boyfriends now, to say the least.

Some of the boyfriends I had when I was young were pretty shitty people, too. I finally learned to filter better.

Yay! And yay for better boyfriends! I WANT to like playing video games, but my probably-dyspraxia and high task-related anxiety make that so hard. I just end up flailing around and not breathing and getting all Upset. But you're inspiring me to try something--my husband just got a Guitar Hero guitar, and I hear there are some songs on there that are really easy if you play reeeeeaaally sloooooowly. I'll try!

I mean, it wasn't entirely his fault, I didn't have the skills yet to talk about what I struggled with and why, I was still used to a decade and a half of suffering silently in school. So like on the one hand yes he'd insist on watching subtitled rather than dubbed anime because it's more "proper" somehow, but on the other hand I'd put up with it and just sit there for hours sometimes bored out of my skull because I had no way of knowing what was going on.
