The thing was about how players -- Twins players on a Twins podcast, so the ones that get talked about all the time -- are sometimes referred to by the hosts (who also write about the team) by only first name, some by only last name, and some always have both. They were trying to figure out why some only felt right the they normally do it.

What I said, what got read out, is

My first thought is, I think you're on to something with the shortness of the names, when the first and last names together are three or even two syllables.

My second thought is, Brock Stewart and the other examples you gave (Joe Ryan, Austin Martin, Brooks Lee) all have last names that could also be first names. (Admittedly this is also true of José Miranda but sadly I think we are a long way from someone whose first name is Miranda being an MLB player!)
