I went outside so scatter-brained that I forgot my entire handbag. When I went back for it, I realized it was so sunny I wanted my hat -- sunglasses take away too much useful vision for me, so I use hats to shade my eyes instead -- for the first time in about six months. I grabbed it off the hook where it'd been waiting for me, thinking it'd been about a year since [personal profile] po8crg got me this Twins cap, the one that looks just the same as the ones the players wear on the field.

A little later I got a notification that said his calendar had reminded him about a Red Sox [his team] vs. Twins [my team] game and he wanted to call me so we could watch it together...before he remembered. All I could send him in reply was an emoji heart, rather than the big hug I wanted to do. But if we could hug we could watch baseball today, so. I told him about wearing the hat and being reminded of him, though, which he seemed to like.

He's also been talking to me about baseball games that might cheer me up; obviously the Game 7s from the '87 and '91 World Series. Just being reminded of Jack Morris's complete game has cheered me up too (now I think of him first as an annoying commentator, so it's good to remember what a work of art his pitching was!).

It's a bittersweet thing to think about when I miss baseball so much. But it's nice to share this with my friend.
