Our internet is still down. Andrew called BT today and they said they can't fix it for a month? They're apparently going to send us a 4G router that we can use in the meantime. I don't understand why we had to chase them for this: they should be getting in touch and explaining if we're supposed to spend a month without proper internet -- that they, no doubt, will still be charging us for. Even to get this stopgap, Andrew had to explain that he's shielding and needs the internet for food (and work, for that matter; missing four or five podcasts wouldn't do his Patreon any favors!). I am deeply unimpressed.
All morning I heard the sound of cars swooshing along wet roads and was grateful that for once this week I wasn't expected to walk four miles in the rain to go to work. However, my pandemic check appeared in the mail since I forgot you have to sign the back of USian checks and the person at the bank didn't ask me to (she probably didn't know either) so they had to mail it to me. The bank said I could send it back but I'd rather take it there. I didn't want to walk in the rain so it'll have to wait. I didn't really want to stay home, though, but there isn't anywhere else to go.
A rainy day with nowhere to go and no internet wasn't any good for my mental health, but such is life. No internet means no streaming music, so I got the radio out of the kitchen to keep me company today. Found an old TMS on, yay. I didn't care who England are playing, I just love the sound of it. Andrew was surprised when he came downstairs and heard this. "Is there cricket?!" I explained it was an old one but he was still surprised to learn that they record it. "Oh! Why would you listen to it when you already know what happens?!" He said he didn't think there'd he cricket even without the covids because he doesn't think it's played at this time of year (I don't know why, it's such a summery sport!) and also it's raining. I tried to tell him, the number of times I've listened to cricket played elsewhere while it rained in Manchester... Heh.
I got around to making chili eventually with all the mushrooms in the fridge that needed using up. I made it a little too spicy but hey spicy food is my only source of endorphins these days so I'll take it. I've done the teeniest but of uni work but mostly I've just been sad.
I'm thinking over some big things and I determined I actually was already too stressed about the prospect of going for LGBT+ Lib Dems vice chair so I'm not going to do that. I was so keen on it but now I'm still not done with uni, I'm going to have to look for a job as soon as I finish, lots of stuff is so much more difficult than I expected 2020 would be. I'm sad about that and I'm sad for all the reasons that this is the best decision for me. But such is life.
