[186/366] old fourth of Julys
Jul. 4th, 2020 09:31 pmFacebook memories of today (each day you can look back on what you posted on the same date in previous years, if anything) include my mom and I standing in front of a giant fish in iirc Garrison Minnesota on the shores of Lake Mille Lacs. My dad stopped especially to take this photo so I could show Spouse what vacations with my family are like. There's a sign on the plinth that says "keep off the walleye" and I have the look of a petulant teenager in the photo because I think I was still talking to my dad when he took it. The photo is awful in every way but I love it.
Another Facebook memory is from last year, a post my friend Kat tagged me to ask if she and
diffrentcolours and I once set off a huge firework in the park for the fourth of July or did she just dream that. Heh. She didn't dream it! It was the kind with streamers rather than incendiary light, so we did it while it was still light out, after a party with a barbecue and potato salad and we even tried to roast marshmallows with tea lights (which worked about as well as you imagine).
And that message makes me smile because it's a memory itself now: I answered "no you didn't dream that, it was real" just as I'd settled down on some twigs and rough ground under a tree at the Castlefield Bowl to see Janelle MonĂ¡e with said
diffrentcolours. That was such a good night: home to maybe the best selfie of us and the story about how I had to go home barefoot.
