16 What is your favorite board game?

I don't really like board games. They tend not to be very accessible to me. I do like though that many of the complicated ones my friends like sometimes have something I can keep track of, a score or a timer or something, which gives the players less to worry about and helps me feel involved. And my friends never mind if I just hang out nearby with a glass of wine or something, although I still get apprehensive about that because my family don't take "I don't want to" or "it's inaccessbile" for an answer; my friends actdually like me and don't want me to do things that are no fun for me and burn through visual-processing spoons for no reason!

I actually went to work this morning. I'd explained a bit about why I couldn't yesterday, as I'd planned, and L gave me a hug and reminded me I could make tea for myself as well as him and J (making tea is usually my first task when I get there). It was tiring but I'm glad I could do it.

I picked up my new glasses today, and learned that they have a special cleaner that takes permanent marker off lenses, because they forgot to do it for mine so I had to take them back (well, Andrew did). New glasses are the same frames as the old ones (well, dark brown instead of black but you really have to look at them to notice any difference) and with a less-strong prescription.

I did a phone interview with a researcher who wanted LGBT people's opinions abut Brexit, which took about 45 minutes. It was interesting, but knackering; I usually try not to think too much about the last few years' worth of political developments, but when I got off the phone Andrew, who'd been able to hear my half of the conversation, said "You do good talking!" He said he knew I thought all that stuff, of course, but that he didn't usually hear me talk about it in an infodump kind of way like that. I hope the researcher thought it was useful, anyway.

Wow, what a difference a day makes!

You'd be welcome at our board game evenings. Sometimes, we just end up talking instead of playing. Or one person would rather observe and just be present than play. Or I end up cooking/playing host while others play. In otherwords, we're flexible and the game is just an excuse to hang out.

I'm a rather wicked Scrabble player. I get rather gleeful when I win, which I often do. It conflicts with growing up being told that me winning made other people upset - as I often had the best spelling or other test scores at school, and got prizes more than the other kids did.

Isn't it nice having friends who actually believe you and put in some work to accommodate?
